2023 Strata Homes Charity Ball

On the evening of Saturday, 1st July 2023, Harte Consulting had the distinct pleasure of attending the highly anticipated Strata Homes Charity Ball. The event, held at the magnificent Leeds Royal Armouries, was not only an opportunity for us to dress in black tie attire and enjoy a glamorous evening, but more importantly, it was a chance to show our support for the incredible work of B:Friends Charity. As a company committed to making a positive impact in our community, we were honoured to join forces with B:Friends and their volunteer befrienders, who dedicate their time and compassion to help combat social isolation among older individuals.

B:Friends Charity and their mission:

B:Friends Charity is a remarkable organization that focuses on providing companionship and support to socially isolated older neighbours. Their unique approach is built on a simple but powerful idea: volunteers pledge to visit an isolated individual near them for one hour every week, creating opportunities for a cuppa and a chat. These friendly visits take place during convenient times for both parties, such as on the way back from work, while running errands, or even dropping the kids off at school. By offering a listening ear, engaging conversation, and emotional support, the volunteer befrienders play a crucial role in the lives of those who may otherwise feel alone and disconnected from their communities.

Supporting B:Friends Charity at the Strata Homes Charity Ball:

The Strata Homes Charity Ball, held annually, has become a significant event that raises awareness and funds for various charitable causes. This year, it was a privilege for Harte Consulting to align our mission of community impact with B:Friends Charity and support their admirable work. By attending the ball, we aimed to contribute both financially and by spreading the word about B:Friends and the volunteer opportunities they offer.

The Leeds Royal Armouries, with its grandeur and historical significance, provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening. The black tie event brought together businesses, organisations, and individuals from various sectors, united by a shared desire to make a positive difference.

During the event, B:Friends Charity showcased their accomplishments, sharing heartwarming stories of friendships forged and lives changed. It was truly inspiring to witness the impact that their volunteer befrienders have on the lives of those they visit. The smiles on the faces of the individuals benefiting from these connections were a testament to the power of human connection and the importance of combating social isolation.

Harte Consulting's commitment to community impact:

At Harte Consulting, we firmly believe in giving back to the community that supports us. We are dedicated to leveraging our resources and influence to address social issues and create positive change. Supporting B:Friends Charity aligns perfectly with our values of compassion, empathy, and community building.

Our involvement in the Strata Homes Charity Ball not only raised funds for B:Friends, but it also helped raise awareness about the issue of social isolation among older individuals. By actively engaging with the charity and its volunteers, we hope to encourage others to get involved, whether by becoming volunteer befrienders themselves or by supporting the cause in other ways.

This event served as a powerful reminder of the profound impact we can have on the lives of others through simple acts of kindness and human connection.

B:Friends Charity and their dedicated volunteer befrienders are making a tangible difference in the lives of socially isolated older individuals, ensuring they have someone to share their thoughts, fears, and joys with. As a company committed to community impact, Harte Consulting will continue to support organisations like B:Friends in their mission to combat social isolation and build stronger, more connected communities.

Together, we can create a world where no one feels alone, where every cuppa and chat brings a ray of sunshine into someone's life. Let us embrace the spirit of volunteerism and continue to spread love, support, and friendship to those who need it the most.

Current Roles

How many times have you felt like you’re surrounded by idiots? There might be a very good reason for this (unless they are certified idiots, then you’re screwed!). 🥴 At Harte, we frequently refer to Persona Profiling, which uses four colours (red, blue, yellow and green) to identify individual traits so we can develop a better understanding of ourselves and others. From a recruitment point of view, this helps to define a job seeker’s characteristics and assess whether they’d be suited to a role or fit in with a business’s culture. Someone who is a ‘fiery red’ for example, will be results-orientated, strong-willed, and driven to achieve, whereas a ‘cool blue’ personality will have a more conventional energy that thrives on analysis and asking questions before making a move. Knowing this sort of information makes finding the right ‘fit’ for a company a whole lot easier because we have a clear idea of the traits and behaviours that are aligned with the role. It also gives us an indication of when we need to take a step back and slow things down in interviews to really get to know the job-seeker properly. If you’re keen to find out more about the four personality types, have a read of (or listen to) this book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Surrounded-Idiots-Behavior-Effectively-Communicate/dp/1250179947 Do you know what energy colour you lead by?
