Energy & Enthusiasm: How to Bring Your Best Self to Work Every Day

Bringing your best self to work every day is key to thriving in any job, especially in the vibrant fields of property and construction. It can be particularly challenging during the summer months when you’re managing others’ being on holiday or wanting to be yourself! Your energy and enthusiasm can set you apart, boost your productivity, and inspire those around you. Here’s how to keep your spirits high and your performance top-notch.

Start Your Day Right

How you start your day sets the tone for the rest of it. Establish a morning routine that energises you. This could include exercise, a healthy breakfast, and some quiet time to plan your day. A positive start can fuel your enthusiasm and prepare you to tackle your tasks with vigour.

Set Clear Goals

Having clear, achievable goals gives you a sense of direction and purpose. Break down your tasks into manageable chunks and set realistic deadlines. Celebrating small wins along the way can keep your motivation levels high and drive you to accomplish more.

Suzie says: Focusing on big goals can feel overwhelming or distant. Instead, focus on inputs that you can do little and often, as well as having a sense of control over them. For example, every day, you ensure you contact five previous clients, or every day you punt five properties again (if you’re in estate agency sales), or every week you network at least once in real life.

Stay Organised

An organised workspace and a structured schedule can significantly impact your efficiency and mindset. Keep your desk tidy, use planners or digital tools to track your tasks, and prioritise your workload. Organisation reduces stress and allows you to focus your energy where it’s needed most.

Maintain a Positive Attitude

Positivity is contagious. Approach your work with a positive mindset, even when challenges arise. Focus on solutions rather than problems, and view setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow. A positive attitude not only boosts your morale but also inspires your colleagues.

Take Regular Breaks

Short breaks throughout the day can rejuvenate your mind and body. Step away from your desk, take a walk, or practise some deep breathing exercises. Regular breaks can enhance your focus, reduce fatigue, and keep your energy levels up.

Stay Hydrated and Eat Well

Proper nutrition and hydration are essential for maintaining energy and concentration. Drink plenty of water and choose healthy snacks to keep you fuelled throughout the day. Avoid excessive caffeine and sugary foods, which can lead to energy crashes.

Connect with Colleagues

Building strong relationships with your colleagues can make your workday more enjoyable and collaborative. Engage in team activities, offer support, and celebrate successes together. Positive interactions can boost your morale and create a more dynamic and energetic work environment.

Keep Learning

Continuous learning keeps your mind active and engaged. Attend workshops, pursue further training, and stay updated with industry trends. Expanding your knowledge not only enhances your skills but also reignites your passion and enthusiasm for your work.

Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga can help you stay present and focused. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and increase your overall well-being.

Reflect on Your Achievements

Take time to reflect on what you’ve accomplished. Acknowledging your progress and successes, no matter how small, can boost your confidence and motivate you to keep pushing forward. Regular reflection helps you stay connected to your goals and maintain your enthusiasm. Keep a Ta-Da List, as well as your To-Do List, for easy reminders if you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Balance Work and Personal Life

A healthy work-life balance is crucial for sustained energy and enthusiasm. Make sure to allocate time for hobbies, family, and relaxation. When you’re well-rested and fulfilled outside of work, you’re more likely to bring your best self to your job.

Stay Passionate

Finally, remember why you chose your career in the first place. Reconnect with your passion and let it drive your daily efforts. Passion is the fuel that keeps your energy high and your enthusiasm unwavering.

Bringing your best self to work every day requires a combination of good habits, a positive mindset, and a supportive environment. By focusing on your well-being, staying organised, and nurturing your passion, you can maintain high energy and enthusiasm, inspiring both yourself and those around you. Current Roles

By Elliot Landy April 30, 2025
How many times have you felt like you’re surrounded by idiots? There might be a very good reason for this (unless they are certified idiots, then you’re screwed!). 🥴 At Harte, we frequently refer to Persona Profiling, which uses four colours (red, blue, yellow and green) to identify individual traits so we can develop a better understanding of ourselves and others. From a recruitment point of view, this helps to define a job seeker’s characteristics and assess whether they’d be suited to a role or fit in with a business’s culture. Someone who is a ‘fiery red’ for example, will be results-orientated, strong-willed, and driven to achieve, whereas a ‘cool blue’ personality will have a more conventional energy that thrives on analysis and asking questions before making a move. Knowing this sort of information makes finding the right ‘fit’ for a company a whole lot easier because we have a clear idea of the traits and behaviours that are aligned with the role. It also gives us an indication of when we need to take a step back and slow things down in interviews to really get to know the job-seeker properly. If you’re keen to find out more about the four personality types, have a read of (or listen to) this book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Surrounded-Idiots-Behavior-Effectively-Communicate/dp/1250179947 Do you know what energy colour you lead by?
